口譯是聽、說、讀、寫、譯的綜合體現和升華，口譯不僅體現了一個人的英語水平，而且體現了一個人的中文造詣、思維、表達、反應、學術功底等多方面的功底。相對口譯考試中的筆譯來說，口試難度更高，因為筆譯是寫在紙上，你有很多機會可以去想，去修改，而說出來的話是沒有修改的機會的。

中級口譯和高級口譯的口試區別，主要在句子長度。一般高級口譯中的長句多，段落長。事實上在口譯現場，在事先不知道試題主要內容的前提下，考生在開始聽第一句話的時候往往反應不過來的，聽第二句話時才能根據上下文正確理解第一句話的主要內容，這就要求考生具備較強的記憶力，敏捷的反應，以及扎實的語言基本功。
